Smiles Galore!!

Who of us can't relate to the friendship of Lucy and Ethel? Remember all the shenanigans they got into? Well, as I continue "Friends" week to introduce you to some people, it would not be complete without my friends Donna and Linda.

I opened an Etsy store in October--Did I mention that I didn't have a clue what I was doing? Well, Donna and Linda were unbelievable with my 10 thousand questions and emails a day asking, "How on earth do I list this stuff?"

Donna made my "drama" much more fun as we have laughed our way through it all!!! She has been my anchor and confidante as I jumped in "feet first" into this new enterprise.

I talked to Linda non-stop who is the perfect mix of calm and confidence--She is my idol! And no matter what I asked, she walked me through everything...totally amazing!

And the best part? These are spirit-filled women with wisdom and joy...I value them greatly as I do ALL of you.

But, when I saw this picture of Lucy and Ethel, I thought of my antics and how I was like a proverbial "Lucy" asking these awesome friends for advice all along the way as I "set up shop" on a wing and a prayer.

That was only the beginning of friendships that were forged and I have to admit, I'm much more interested in how our lives are going, what we're busy doing, and the ins and outs of every day life. The fun and laughter and sharing is much more important to me!

and Shirley." Who didn't? They were always

so fun!!!

And I have so many amazingly fun friends.

A Little Christmas Message

As we approach Christmas and see all the beautiful lights and signs of hope everywhere, I am reminded that with love, anything is possible.

I think if many of us look back on our lives, there have probably been times when we wondered if things would ever change...Even when we didn't, we still kept our faith.

Maybe things didn't change in our timing, but they changed nonetheless.

I can always feel the changes coming during this time of year...a time when joy and giving come to the forefront...a time of remembering those we love...a time of planning surprises just to see the joy on someone else's face...

Holiday Decorating--Homes filled with love

Hi Everyone~

The other day, I showed you pictures of my friend

Sharon's fireplace, but I didn't put the photo in

that is a close-up, so I wanted to post it today.

Isn't this beautiful?

Sharon's artistic nature is seen throughout her entire

house--and oh, do I love Christmas decorating!!

My friend Donna just got her tree

decorated~Aren't these just the

most lovely pictures?

Donna is so creative...She made garlands,

wreaths, and everything so beautiful

for the holidays...They're in her Etsy

store and on her blog.

I love all the creativity that so many people share in the blogging world. It is such an inspiration. And now, during the holidays, it has even more meaning when we contemplate the source of creativity.

When I am in the midst of my own creativity, I feel "at one" with Our Creator....I feel fully involved in "the dance" of life as colors and textures swirl in front of me.

It is a blessing to be able to express ourselves, whether it is through art, music, photography--whatever our outlet is.

I have been doubly blessed by so many of you who share your talents--and friendship--and prayers. You lift me up.

Gifts Made from the Heart!

Hi Everyone--

I have created some pieces for the holiday season--

one is for a "Christmas Day" giveaway (garland

pictured above) and the others are in my Etsy shop.

Yesterday I received the biggest surprise in the mail.

It was an adorable wallet from my friend Donnie and

her husband. It was made by a woman named Teresa.

She sells all kinds of handmade goodness in her Etsy shop

and every piece was created to help us organize

our purses! Thank you so much, Don and Donnie!

My friend Linda has simply gorgeous

Tag Tuesday--My Entry

Hi Everyone--

Louise’s Tag Tuesday is a fun weekly challenge. Louise has asked a guest artist, Pam, to help with the challenge. This week, we were asked to create a background for a tag.

So, I used a graphic from Shabby Cottage Studio (as some of you know, I am their Artist in Residence.) Then, I stamped it and inked the edges. So, this is not a completed tag--It is merely the background for one. (I don’t know about you, but it looks done to me!) It is pictured here resting in American moss.

But, this tag brought to mind that no matter what is going on in our lives, sometimes we are not quite aware that God is in the background helping us all along our way...What a comforting thought. So, as you look at this little creation, I hope that you will remember that you’re not alone and always have someone on your side....someone who's always in the background cheering you on through life.

Believe it, Know it, Be it

Hi Everyone--
If you have ever had a dream and wondered if it could come true, I can tell you that you have THE biggest fan you could possibly imagine--and that is God.... He is there cheering you on even if you can't hear Him....He is there in your corner even if you feel alone...and He is there making all those dreams possible--Pray and see how He helps your dreams take shape. Keep doing what you're doing and you will be amazed at what doors open up...

Just remember that through prayer, your dreams are carried on the wings of angels directly to a Heavenly Father who loves you...In the past few months, I have seen His hand in everything from surgeries working out to packages getting delivered to their recipients when it appeared all hope was lost...

I have felt Him lift me up higher than my own vision could see--because through Him all things are possible. What began as a prayer blog seems to have become a testimony...how wondrous!

Weekly Wisdom--Turning to Friends

Hi Everyone,

After this week, I have come to the conclusion that some of the most precious friends are the ones who can help us in our time of need and pray for us...(I learned that a few weeks back too when all of you prayed for Ralph--and I'll never forget it.)

My two friends, Patti and Donna whom I met while blogging prayed for me all week--and it helped more than they ever knew...Let me explain what happened...I had sent my art to an art gallery--and it got lost! ($1,000 worth of art.) I was in a total state of panic and my 2 friends prayed for me and wrote every day asking what the latest news was...I just found today that it all finally arrived safe and sound--When I sent the boxes on Monday, I was 56....By Friday, I think I was 86! lol I'm sure I aged that much, for sure!

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that if you are ever in a bind, turn to friends who turn to God with you--it makes all the difference in the world...It can change your life and your future!!!

In fact, it was so awful that I was afraid to worry anyone else with it (I didn't even tell my mom.)

Well, that's my story and I wanted to share it with you...and one more thing--Patti said the most amazing thing in one of her letters. She said that the Lord always finishes what He starts...Wow, that was powerful--and something I'll never forget.

I am probably the most grateful person on the planet right now--grateful it got there safe, grateful that I didn't look like a flake, and grateful for 2 friends who got me through this "slippery slope."

Now, there may be those of you who are thinking, "Wow, why didn't Cindy tell me?" Honestly, because I was so nervous about it. It was beyond comprehension that such a thing could happen. It went clear to a different part of the state! Well, thankfully, it's in the right hands now...

As you go about your week, I hope that you will learn to turn to God for everything...I know in this circumstance I had no other choice...and it was a valuable life lesson...I wish you all peace, love, and packages that arrive at their destinations!

Doubly Blessed and "Weekend Question"

Hi Everyone--

I know it's been a long week, but I had no idea that when I went to post on this blog for my "Weekend Question," I did the whole post on my Whimsical Musings blog instead...lol So, I guess that maybe people there will answer my weekend question too! How funny is that? Well, without further ado, I'd like to introduce you to not one, but 2 guest artists--Roselle and Nancy. (Read further and you'll understand why.)

My friend Roselle from Seaside Rose Creations is a wonderful artist and I wanted to share a picture of her precious, hand-painted Christmas bulbs--they’re available in her Etsy shop. Aren’t they just the sweetest treasures?

They got me to thinking about something...which brings me to my question for you for this week--What is one of the sweetest things that someone has ever done for you? (And I hope it will be something that caught you by surprise--something you weren’t expecting.)

Roselle actually surprised me with the sweetest package that arrived a few weeks ago...It was an envelope filled to the brim with “artist’s” treasures...vintage paper, book pages, ribbon, lace--you name it, it was in there! Sometimes, life has the nicest way of smiling at us through friends and family.

And right as I was in the midst of preparing this message, a gift arrived from my friend Nancy from The Trinket Collector--I was so surprised! She and her husband had been to Atlantic City to celebrate their wedding anniversary and she sent me Salt Water Taffy from there AND also, amazing vintage postcards--I couldn’t believe my eyes!

Every day is, indeed, a special package that we open--ours to do with what we choose...

Unwrapping gifts of caring from friends is such a delight and I can’t begin to express how

they warmed my heart.

A Song-filled Day!

I wanted to wish all of you a song-filled day

and what better way than with a "nesting" box

that was created with a great deal of joy?

This is a piece that I just completed for the art

gallery and it is laden with music as I feel that

our homes are happier filled with music and

prayer. There is something so comforting

about a nest--I don't know why--I think

it always reminds me of the Bible verse

that tells us not to worry--that if the

Lord takes care of the birds, then surely

He will take care of us....And who could

have a lovelier song than birds?

Weekly Wisdom--Try to do what you can for others

Hi Everyone:
A few weeks ago, I heard of an amazing project called The Butterfly Effect. People are being asked to make butterflies, 1.5 million in all to represent the children killed in The Holocaust. I made 3 butterflies that made their way safely to Trudi in Canada, a wonderful artist who has decided to encourage people to make the butterflies.

It's easy, actually. You make a butterfly and send it to her...Later, they will be on display at The Holocaust Museum in Houston.

And if this is not something you want to do, as part of my "Weekly Wisdom," I would say, "This week, try to remember someone who needs something, whether it's a prayer or a kind word and try to be of assistance." I think it's important to remember this every week, but I think it is a wonderful message to start out the month of November in which we celebrate Thanksgiving.

Weekly Wisdom--"Thy Will Be Done"

Last week, I was inspired by the word’s of Derek Prince’s book “Secrets of a Prayer Warrior” where he explains that in our lives, it is important to say to God, “Thy will be done.”

So, I contemplated what that meant in my own life...and how I could make that possible by having more time for prayer and reading. With that being revealed to me, I have begun a new format here and I am very excited!

Each Monday, I will have “Weekly Wisdom,” and hope that will be a source of inspiration to all of you during the week. Then, on Fridays, I will pose a question for each of you (a simple one) and feature the work of a special artist with an inspirational story to go with the feature.

So, what is my “Weekly Wisdom” for this week? It is to say that I feel it is really valuable to contemplate on that phrase “Thy will be done” in all of our lives. I wonder what insights you will gain and how it will inspire you to be lead by God’s love for you.

A Blessing from a Friend

Yesterday, I received one of the biggest surprises I have ever gotten in my life--and original art book by June of Junibears Jottings! It is filled with all of June’s original digital art which is breathtaking...I have photographed just a few pages to give you an idea of the immense beauty of this priceless gift
from this wonderful friend.

I know that so many of you know and love June and I am also asking for prayers for her husband Freddie who suffered a stroke a week ago...I hope that you prayer warriors will please join me in prayer for him and for June both.

Also, last week, my dear friend, One Heart asked if I would ask a question that everyone would answer...

So, here it is and I don’t worry about how long a response it is...I’d love to hear it...

Today, my good friend Marfi of Incipient Wings and I were talking about dreams and some amazing ones we have had and I would like to know, what is one of the most profound dreams you have had?

Hi Everyone:

I saw this quilt on Karen's blog and knew immediately that I had to show you her amazing talent!!! You know how much I love anything hearts, anything sewing, and anything quilting!!! And to me, this beautiful piece is a reminder of the importance of love in our lives...It is also easy to take for granted. I can just imagine that if someone has Karen's beautiful creation on their lap, they would feel loved, no doubt!!!

Maybe in our attitudes, we could all be like a virtual quilt in that if people come in touch with us they feel more love. Isn't that a wonderful goal to strive for? Especially in traffic or in a long line at the grocery store?

I remember a few months ago, I was at the post office and was frustrated by the line...I kept thinking, "Cindy, just spread love." So, I started to talk to 2 ladies ahead of me...It turned out that I had some stamps in my purse, gave it to them, and saved them a wait in the long line. I thought that was an opportunity to just do something nice for someone. I think that we should look for those magical opportunities.

We can even find those opportunities on here with a sweet comment that makes someone's day...We don't know what an "I love your red apron" could do for someone! It sounds simplistic perhaps, but it's those little gestures that make living so much brighter.

So "Spread the love" just as Karen did by making this beautiful creation....And thanks, Karen for this lovely reminder.

A Little Bit of Frida

Hi Everyone:
When I saw this painting by Marfi, I was enthralled as I love anything that is Frida Kahlo....When I was in Mexico City, I visited her home where she lived with her husband Diego Rivera....It was like walking back in time. What stands out the most in my mind? Their kitchen was large and bright and had their names on the wall--it was spectacular....I also visited her art studio and in it were all the braces she had to wear after her tragic accident. These were so tiny and she was such a little woman.

For a woman of such small stature impacted by tremendous adversity, she made a big impact--To this day, she inspires others to keep on "keeping on" in the midst of any setbacks...She is truly an inspiration, even though she has been gone many years.

I wanted to share this delightful painting of Marfi's with you as she has amazing talent and is also inspired by Kahlo, as well. Kahlo and Rivera are no doubt, one of Mexico's treasures. They brought so much awareness to that country and ultimately to the world through their art.

When I saw this painting on Marfi's blog and felt like it was serendipity because we both have such an appreciation for this artist.

So, how can this be inspirational on my blog today? I think that Frida's story reminds us that even in adversity, we can persevere and that sometimes, adversity propels us to greater heights to pursue things we might never have without it...

I think that is a poignant concept to ponder. Has adversity ever pivoted you to greater heights? I know it has with me.

After a tremendous loss in my life, I went back to college and just so that I wouldn't have to focus on the loss, school kept my mind occupied so I didn't have time to cry...It was the hardest time in my life--and in that rough moment, I had to do something positive just to survive. We never know where life will take us, do we? With God's help, he leads us to where we need to be....It is a journey and it is often those unhappy things that happen that carry miracles on their wings.

Monday Message--Our Day at the Beach

This weekend, Ralph and I went to take a walk along the beach.

I am from California, so I love the beach. We found a
beautiful island in Alabama called Dauphin Island.

Warm water--and they allowed dogs, so we could bring our
little sweetie, Jamie, a maltese (no pic of Jamie because he
wouldn't look at the camera...lol)
But, this little bird was happy to cooperate!

While I was there, I thought of all of you, so I wrote the name
of my blog in the sand and got this picture.

I will be thinking of all of you this week and praying for you
and wishing you a sky-blue week with calm seas and sunshine!

Will Needs Our Prayers

There is a young man who needs all of our prayers right now and his story is on his friend's blog. I would like to know if you could go there and see his amazing story and send him "Happy Birthday" wishes and say prayers for him.

When I recently completed this altered art bird’s nest, I couldn’t help but think of that scripture. I pray that we will all realize that the Lord is watching over us, including Will and his beautiful family.

I would like to introduce my guest artist for today, Debbie. Last week, my husband walked outside to get the mail and walked in with a package in his hand and there were all these wonderful handcrafted gifts from Debbie. It was such a surprise. She is a true woman of God and inspires so many people, not only with her kindness but with her amazing story of strength.

You see, last year Debbie lost her beautiful daughter Amy to cancer. But, did Debbie get angry and bitter? No. Instead she helps others with her encouraging words and wonderful spirit.

If faced with the same trials in life, would I be able to do that? Could any of us? Well, Debbie is a living example of someone who loves the Lord in the midst of troubles and serves as a great reminder of how important it is to have faith no matter what is going on in our lives. I’ve never met Debbie in person, but I love her.

I hope you will visit her blog and say “hi.” It is a blessing to know her as it is to know so many of you who share your generous spirits and are such a balm when people are going through things that you hear about on here....

In truth, we are a community--a spiritual community of strength who are there for each other...I love you all.

Today I am featuring the work of Donna from My Shabby Chateau. Why? Because she is a genius at repurposing! She takes items, weaves her magic, and the next thing you know, they become priceless one-of-a-kind creations!

When I decided to write this post about “A Letter to God,” I thought of her chalkboard...They have become so popular! So, I thought, what if we each had a mental chalkboard and just wanted to talk to God and let Him know who we are concerned about and whom we want to pray about?

What’s on the top of YOUR list? Try it for just a few minutes and see how many things are on your mind--how many concerns you have. And then, after you do, hand over the “keys of worry” to Him--Let Him take care of it!

Yes, let God do the work because you have already told Him what concerns you. Remember that word “faith?” Well, if you’re even the teensy weensiest bit like me, I have faith after I’ve worried, tried to fix things, worried some more, called my mom, talked to my husband, wrote an email to a friend...okay, you get the picture.

So, for one day, just take the things on your mental chalkboard--the things that concern you most--and ask for God’s blessing in your life. You can do it--I know you can! And let me know how you feel about it...I can’t wait to hear your feedback.

Last week was a time full of surprises! One day I went out to the mailbox and there was a box of incredible treasures from our guest artist, Linda. Here is a picture of just one of the items she sent me that she had made and I wanted to share it with you.

Little did she know when she sent it that I was in the midst of making a nesting piece myself, so I knew for sure that somehow we were so connected, not only as artists, but more importantly, as friends.

It made me think of all the people we meet on here and how we share our days and little happenings, our feelings, and everything else that goes on in our lives. But, in the midst of it, we make friends that may know us even better than our neighbors do...We get excited for each other when things are going well...We cry together when one of us is going through something...

And even more than that--our voices can be heard. Someone cares what we think, how we are doing, and how we are feeling. How miraculous is that? It is a big world but we have been so blessed to know others who pray with us--who “get” us and who share in a spirit of “I wish you the best in life.” Isn’t that a miracle?

I think this is an important day to take a few minutes and pray for all the friends you have made through your blogging adventures. I am going to do that and I hope you will do it too....In this way, I believe we will create a “circle of love” that will go around the globe! How amazing is that?

Just as birds take flight and are not limited by location, our prayers have no boundaries and can affect the lives of all those we pray for.

I hope you will go visit Linda's blog--but give yourself lots of time because you won't believe the treasures she has on there! She has so many vintage pieces and they're also available in her Etsy shop...For those of you who are artists, you won't believe what you'll find!

Believe in Your Dreams

Hi Everyone,

On Sunday, my husband and I went to the beach--to the Gulf of Mexico, to be exact. I had not been there since February, and being from California, it's hard for me to go that long without waves and sand. Here is a pic I took with my cell phone. Why there is a "pink glow" on the beach is beyond me, but I thought it was kind of magical.

While I was there, I thought of a friend of mine who loves the beach and wants to move south, but right now is living in the northwestern part of the U.S. So, I collected shells on Sunday and decided to send them her way...they are all ready!

But, they come with an important message attached and that is "Dreams DO come true!" For without our dreams, how would we accomplish what we need to do? They are the fuel that gets our engines moving through life...and asking God for direction, He leads us where we need to be. So, this message is for all of you too--LIVE your dreams!!!

This posting today is about friendship and how lucky I think
so many of us feel to have met such wonderful people while we have been blogging. Yesterday there was a surprise in my mailbox--the most beautiful
art by Cheryl from the UK.

Let me tell you right off that my pictures don't do these tags or magnificent altered book justice. They are so incredibly made that just holding them is special--I'm not exaggerating! The bird and bird cage are so sparkly and the pages of the journal are each individual pieces of art. They even have pockets to put special notes...How amazing is that?

The book is held together by the most exquisite clasp and beautiful key...I could go on and on about this because there is so much detail and must have taken forever to make!!

They remind me so much that not only is friendship such a
blessing, but so is being able to use our talents.

the world a better place. And Tuesday, June's husband in England is having surgery and I hope you will join me in praying for him.

A thought came to me last night that I'd like to share with you....Since starting this blog, I have made time to pray for so many people. I know that so many of you do too. (It was YOUR prayers that held me up a couple of weeks ago when so much transpired here!)

But, the thought that came to me last night is quite remarkable. I thought you would like to ponder it and I think this picture expresses it so well too. What if when we pray for others, unbeknownst to us, we are being blessed too? I mean, what if we go to that quiet place inside to commune with God and then as we are praying for others He is blessing us? It is possible although I have never read about it anywhere in all my reading.

I thought that was a powerful thought to contemplate. Carola, I thank you for this beautiful photograph that reminds us of the peace attained when we go to that personal "quiet place." You have blessed us with your talent and I am very grateful.

Now, I’d like to share my story about a very special moment. This past Mother’s Day, my daughter took me to an exquisite restaurant in Atlanta where she lives. It is at the site of a large park and has a beautiful gazebo and a duck pond...it is breathtaking. This is a picture of Jenny outside the restaurant!

When I saw this picture of Jill’s, I thought it was gorgeous! I asked if she was willing to be a guest artist on here. She said, “Yes” and I thought, “Terrific!”

I saw that this was about “Night,” but also noticed the brightness that surrounded it. I realized that sometimes when we are going through dark times, moments when things seem unsure, there is the Lord’s bright caring light that surrounds us and His Word helps us find our way.

Learning to Listen

Hi Everyone:

I couldn’t wait to show you these pictures of Donna’s...She does so many creative things...I never know what she will come up with next!

These shells got me to remembering when I was a kid and would go to the beach, pick up a shell, and listen to the sea in it...I thought it was God’s wonderful gift!

I think that is an awesome example for us to think of when we pray....You see, often prayer is like holding the shell up to our ears...Next, we need to listen and see what God wants us to do...

I would like to introduce you to Joyce...First, she is wonderful. And second, she has been making teddy bears for over 20 years!

So, you may wonder what special message might be contained within the picture of a teddy bear...I will tell you what it is: Part of the purpose of life is to have JOY and FUN.

It’s wonderful to giggle with a friend over a cup of hot chocolate, enjoy the rustle of fall leaves under our feet, play a game of tag with the wind at the beach--those are all intrinsic parts of the wonder of life.

I thought that this picture would help you get in touch with “the child within.” In fact, have you ever noticed sometimes how on spiritual blogs (including my own) sometimes things sound SO serious? Well, I have! And life is serious, but it has special, whimsical moments too.

Joyce, thank you for reminding us of that whimsy and inviting us to enjoy all the special and light moments that come our way.

When I saw this beautiful tag created by our guest artist, Sherry, I knew that I wanted to feature it on this blog. The reason? Because it holds such a message of hope.

When you think of all the things that each of us believes in, it is quite mind-boggling. For instance, we may believe that it’s important show kindness toward others. We may believe that it is important to get to work on time. We may believe that honesty is an all-important quality to possess.

You see, it is our thoughts and what we believe in that shape how we live our lives. When I saw the word on Sherry’s tag, I immediately thought of hope in the future and to believe in possibilities. For each of us it is different. It becomes a prompt, so to speak, on which we can project whatever we feel. It is an exercise in values.

What do you believe in? Try to contemplate on that and assess how it plays out in your life on a daily basis.

Operation: Healthy Husband

Hi Everyone:

I know that you have followed my journey of the past few days and I could not have gotten this far without you and your prayers lifting up my husband and me. So, I thought I would give you an update about how things are going with my new regimen, simply known as "Operation: Healthy Husband." (For this I think we could use some theme music from "Rocky.")

Yesterday, I went to the store and bought $200 worth of fruit, vegetables, some turkey and fish...For the past 24 hours, I have been slicing and dicing more than I have in my entire life. I feel like we live in a virtual vegetable garden and it's beginning to feel like we are bunnies!

I took a picture, but this cannot begin to show you that every nook and cranny of our fridge is filled with apples, peaches, squash, cucumbers, green beans, cantaloupe, carrots, celery, strawberries--you name it, I've got it! (Did I mention that I'm longing for McDonald's?) We've only been at this 24 hours and already the Golden Arches are feeling like they are the gates of heaven.

But, we will persevere...Actually, Ralph is better at all this than I am as he is from a farming community and loves a huge garden. I'm from the city and love a huge mall.

I figured that it was about time to give you something to bring a smile to your faces as this has been such a serious blog for over a week and I had to show you what is going on right now in the life of this family with their little dog....And did I mention that even our little Maltese Jamie has turned his nose up at the thought of eating this way...He looks at me like, "Hey Mom, where's my hamburger?"

When Ralph was in the hospital, he looked all over for him and couldn't figure out why he was away...Now, his tail just wags because he's so happy to see him back home. If I had a tail, I'd be wagging it too!! I'm so happy he's home!!!

I am linking this up to Spiritual Sundays I can't thank all of you enough for your prayers during this trying time...It has meant so much to me. Charlotte, Ginger, Clif--thank you more than words can say!!!!

A Must-Have Book

As many of you know, this last week has been unbelievably difficult....I don’t know how I have been able to make it through, but I have to say that I believe it is because of your prayers that lifted me up when I couldn’t lift myself.

Do you think that is possible? I think it is. I don’t know any other explanation.

I bought a book today entitled “Secrets of a Prayer Warrior” by Derek Prince. I had no idea what it encompassed, however, I saw it when I was in line at the grocery store and thought that it would shed light on the power of prayer. I can only say that after reading the first 3 chapters, I believe this was a book that I was MEANT to read...It is powerful beyond measure.

It changes how I approach prayer--even prayers for others....It makes it apparent how greatly the Lord loves us.

If you have not read it, I recommend that you get it....It is so powerful and practical. The price of it is nothing compared to its content and honestly, it is a bargain on Amazon! If you are praying for yourselves, if you are praying for others, it is a welcome joy that will help you understand what a privilege and joy prayer is.

I pray that all of you are doing well and thank you for your amazing friendship and caring.

Please Continue to Pray

Here's a picture taken this last spring...(my hair was brown for a brief while.)

To all of you who have come to this blog and prayed for my husband and for me and for Jan's mom--I love you...You are so absolutely dear and I so appreciate you holding me up in this time of great need.

This day began at 5:30...It is now 2 am and I just got home a little bit ago...It seems like the longest day of my life.

My husband is in the Intensive Care Unit and I please ask for you to continue praying for him....I needed to get a few hours of sleep before I make the 25 mile trip back to the hospital over Lake Pontchartrain....

I don't know if you've ever been in this type of situation where it is so unexplainably shocking that you don't even know how to pray because you are living from one moment to the next hearing one bit of information after the other that defies your sense of what the present should be like....

I will leave early in the morning again and I will give you an update when I get home...I thank you so much for your prayers and love...you are all unbelievable human beings and I thank you for all you mean to me.

P.S. I can't help wondering how on earth I started a simple prayer blog in case someone needed a prayer and then I ended up needing it myself....No doubt, God knew that all of this would be happening before it did.

Asking for Your Prayers

Hi Everyone...
Little did I know when I started a prayer blog that I would need your prayers--but I do now....

On Saturday night, my husband had chest pains, was taken by ambulance to the hospital, had suffered a heart attack and is going in for surgery tomorrow....

To say the least, I am scared beyond belief and I'd love to sound braver, but I can't...
(You know me by now--I say what I feel.)

I am asking for your prayers and hope that you will ask the Lord to bless him and keep him well.

Also, Jan of Bobbypins Boardwalk just received word that her mother, Maxine is ill and she needs your prayers, as well...

My Own Miracle and Linda's Jar Give-Away!

Hi Everyone:

I need to tell you a story...The other day, I went to the hobby store and bought Tim Holtz's stickles...they are like glitter glue. Late at night when I was finally able to get some quiet time, I blotted some ink on a card, spread stickles with my finger, and put the card over on the shelf to dry.

An hour later, I glanced over and there was a picture of Jesus! I couldn't believe it. At that point, it was around 3 in the morning and I sent the pic to June in England. I told her the story and asked, "Can you see this image through email?"

She said "yes" and made this beautiful picture with it--I was so surprised. Her art is simply gorgeous.

I was overwhelmed by such a miraculous occurrence when I looked over on the bookshelf.

I am going to leave this up for a few days and I may have to go out of town, but I wanted to post it so you could all see it.
Please let me know if you can see the image as I may need to take better pictures.

Also, as blessings flow, I just received this adorable jar from Linda at Prairie Flower Farm--It was so wonderful of her to send this precious treasure to me. I am so grateful, indeed! I couldn't wait to post it for all of your to see! And it is filled with beautiful feathers from her farm--wow! If you go to her blog, she is giving one away. So, if you go over there, you might just win one!

Guest Artist: Rebecca

I wanted to introduce you to Rebecca. She is one of the first people I met when I joined the Bloggerette Sorority...and I am so happy that she agreed to be a guest artist today!

Rebecca creates so much beauty--and that is what amazes me about her! It is no wonder that her home has been featured in so many famous magazines--she is gifted! But, in addition to that, she is genuinely warm, a trait that I so highly value as I’m sure you do too.

It was difficult to decide what I wanted to post and then we settled on one of her pillows. And you may wonder, “Why a pillow?” Well, the reason is that it reminded me of when I was little and would say my prayers beginning with, “Now I lay me down to sleep...” And I would rest my head on the pillow when I finished thanking God for all of my blessings. It was such a comfort.

And then, I thought of “our comfort zones” and how easy it is to stay glued to them instead of reaching out to others to comfort them. Imagine if each day we reached out to comfort someone, even if it meant saying, “I understand what you’re going through.” We could visit someone who is sick. We could help someone to their car whose load is too heavy.

Being a comfort to others is a privilege. It is one of the best ways I know to affirm that the Lord is alive and well and dwelling in us.

When I saw this pillow, I thought of all the collective comfort we could bring to others! All of us just doing one thing could add up to so much! And when we rest our heads on the pillow at night, we would know that we made this world just a little brighter.

Hi Everyone--

Let me introduce you to an amazing Paperie artist...She has such a divine blog that if you miss it, I’ll feel sad as it is like a pink and white haven! And look at this paper shoe...how dreamy is this?

I was so fortunate that Rosemary made a comment on my blog the other day, I went to see her blog and couldn’t leave!

Then, I came upon this magical slipper shoe and I thought “If the shoe fits, wear it!”

I often receive emails from people telling me that they are undecided about something. It’s as if indecision has its grip on them...Of course, my first instinct is always to say, “Go with your heart.” Then, I am reminded of the verse which says “Lean not unto your own understanding...” (I carry that with me in my Bible pouch.)

But, back to the “shoe fitting”....Often when we are faced with indecision it is because we are about to embark on a new phase of life’s journey. That is when it is time for prayer, maybe listing the pros and cons on paper, and ultimately listening to that “still small voice inside of us.”

I would like to tell you a personal story....Years ago, I owned my own record label...I was very active in the children’s music industry. One day, a friend of mine called and was talking about how she had gone back to college. She assumed that I had my degree, but I didn’t. So, she said, “Why don’t you go back to school?” I was 44 at the time....I said, “Oh my gosh, I can’t do that! I’ll be 47 by the time I finish.”

She said, “Well, look at it this way--would you rather be 47 with a degree or without one?” Brilliant!

So, I went and signed up, got my degree and also completed my Master’s while I was at it. The whole academic decision was decided on a whim. AND it was so fun! I loved the classes, the teachers, the students! Pure joy--except statistics..lol. (Although the teacher was amazing!)

Anyway, if you are ever faced with indecision, just think about this precious shoe, and if you think “The shoe fits” and a change will benefit you--go for it! Let me say, even if things don’t turn out as planned, we LEARN from every experience. That is part of life.

Hi Everyone--

Today I am featuring the work of Donna and I would really encourage you to visit her blog as she has some amazingly inspiring projects on there! I saw this picture of her fleur de lis sconces and it made me think of something really important that I wanted to talk to you about.

I am currently in New Orleans and the fleur de lis is its symbol. I am new to the area and moved here after Hurricane Katrina. The people are very welcoming and make me feel right at home. Do I hear jazz music all the time? No. I did when I lived in the French Quarter...I live 8 miles from there now in a small, seaside village where many people have been shrimpers and crabbers all their lives...It is an area rich in history and the Battle of New Orleans took place here.

I think about the statement “Bloom Where You’re Planted” and feel like we can all bloom wherever we are and enjoy the simple pleasures of a particular area. What’s my favorite thing here? The people. They’re so friendly. And I am near water so there’s boats and a beautiful marina...love it!

When I saw this wonderful, carefree piece on Chris’ blog, I knew it would be something you would all enjoy seeing. She does some amazing art, including this piece....As you look at her work, it all tells a story. How delightful!

I love how this piece says, “Have a great day” because that is what I am wishing all of you. And the rainbow sky? I wish you rainbows too and the carefree feeling of being a child again....Wouldn’t it be great to have just ONE day like that? Why not make it today?

What a plan, yes?

I think it would be wonderful to wake up and make a decision to let things “roll off our backs,” not stress and pick at least just ONE thing to totally enjoy at some point in our day, whether it’s a cup of tea, a conversation with a friend, or a good book...

I’m ready to do it...I’m ready to set aside any worry or negativity and just let things “flow.” When something comes my way that I have to deal with, I’m handing it over to the Lord who watches over all of us....I’m going to use faith instead of might and joy instead of stress....

A Wonderful Surprise!

Hi Everyone--

Today in my email I received this amazing altered art piece from Faye--I was so surprised. It is so beautiful and I was so deeply touched by her kindness AND talent!

Faye doesn't know it but she has always been an inspiration to me ever since I came on the internet showing my art in the past year. We would often enter different challenges and I loved her work and couldn't wait to talk to her. Why? Because she is so real.

Now for any of you who do not do artwork, let me just say that sharing art on a blog can be very intimidating. Sometimes, I'd create a piece of art I was so excited about, share it and then think, "What did I do that for?" lol And there were some artists who were totally amazing and would give such kind feedback...you've met some of them on here on this blog before because their art is great, but in addition, they are wonderful human beings. I always knew when I had met a kindred spirit.

So, I should tell you that I began this blog as a way to ask people if they needed a prayer...that was it! I had no idea that I would meet such wonderful people (like those of you reading this) and also be able to feature the work of artists that I admire not only for their work, but also for who they are as human beings.

What is my point today? It is that it's great if we just do what we do because we love it and we never know what will come about as a result. And we never know what wonderful surprises will come along on our way down that path of happiness.

Message Monday and Drawing Winner

Hi Everyone:

I received this picture in my email on Friday and was so excited...June from Junibears made it just for me! What an amazing surprise from my talented friend! It made me realize that as we come on here, we make friendships through the internet with people we might never have the wonderful luck to meet otherwise.

I am actually not one who loves being on the computer. But, when I began blogging, I realized that it was a way to connect with people who in many ways may know us better than our own families. If we’re not on for a day or a week, they worry about us. I’m not sure if most people’s neighbors have that much concern for each other.

But, there’s more to my internet story than that....Six years ago, I was teaching an ESL class in Los Angeles. A young student of mine (about 19 years old) gave me a beautiful jacket when the semester ended in January...I was stunned. She also gave me a picture from a calendar page that was of Our Lady of Guadalupe. She said, “Teacher, I brought this to you so that God would bless you to meet a wonderful man.”

A few nights went by. The coat was hung in the closet in my apartment. The picture was on my desk. I worked teaching night school and I came in one night, was totally alone, and went on the internet to look up something. Then, I found a chat room. I was familiar with it as I had Web TV...it was like a computer for families and people in the chat rooms were really nice.

So, I went into a chat room and saw a conversation on the screen between 2 men who were talking about needing lights on their trucks. I had an F-150 truck, but had never heard of those lights....So, I said to the one man, “Excuse me. What kind of lights are you talking about? I drive a truck and I’m worried that I don’t have the right lights and I don’t want to get a ticket.”

He said, “Oh, those are lights for a fire truck. You’re fine. You don’t need them.” I was very relieved!

We talked for awhile and laughed and joked. Then, he called me. We talked for 3 hours. A few nights later, I met him in person at a restaurant. He drove 150 miles to come see me. All I could think when I went home was, “I’ve got to see him again tomorrow.” What a strange thing to think!

There is a punchline here--We are married and will celebrate our 5th anniversary in December. My Monday Message is that you never know who you will meet on here or why....I guess sometimes fate just takes over.

Hi Everyone,

Today there was a surprise in my mailbox--this beautiful tag from Dore! And of all things, it said, “Nesting Instincts,” which is probably the strongest instinct I’ve had all my life. It is so beautiful--I will cherish this always. “Thank you so much, Dore!”

My New Give-Away Tag

Last night, I had just completed a tag that I wanted to have for this drawing for the weekend...It was created with burlap, twine, Prima flower, fibers, and a Tim Holtz tile and key. While these 2 tags look different, notice the key and musical notes on each one...how surprising! (If you would like to have your name entered into this drawing, just let me know in a comment under this post.)

For this link party, I had asked people to tell us what they collect. While I collect many things, I wanted to show you this 6-foot cherry wood credenza that is filled with personalized music boxes given to me by my daughter, Jenny. She is 28 and has been buying them for me for every Christmas and birthday since she was 14. Most are from Disney and the San Francisco Music Box Company and each one has a certificate. There are also carousel horses and 3 separate carousels that go around as they play music. At night, the cabinet lights up and looks so magical. I refer to this cabinet as “My cabinet filled with love.” (It never started as a collection--it just became one!) Oh, and one more thing--the cabinet was a housewarming gift from my mom!

God's Love

As you know, this is an inspirational blog...strictly for spiritual growth and nourishment...a place of sharing. So, it is wonderful that so many of you artists decided to “hop on board” to help inspire people with your art.

This piece by Barbara Jean is pure joy. One of the wonderful things about those of you who decided to share your life’s work on here is that others can get a better sense of who you are by what you create because these pieces convey your essence. And this piece is no exception.

Think of its beautiful message--what a wonderful thought and one we can all embrace! Indeed, the love of the Lord lasts forever. In Psalms 36:7, the psalmist writes: How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.

This verse tells us that no matter what our station in life, God is our refuge. His love reaches out to all of us. We can find solace in His care. His love is available to everyone everywhere at any time. What a beautiful comfort that is.

If you would like to highlight this verse in your Bible, you can always have it with you. Before you know it, you will have a collection of verses that you can turn to whenever you need to know just how much your Heavenly Father loves you.

My prayers are with all of you and I am delighted that you live in the shadow of your wonderful Father’s wings.

If God Was Coming to Dinner

I saw this beautiful table setting by Dore--Isn’t it pure delight? It made me wonder what we would feel like if we thought that God was coming to dinner at our house...What would we wear? What would we ask Him? Would we scrub every nook and cranny?

Then, I started to think that in reality, He is at the table of our lives every day. Do we make Him feel welcome? Do we converse with Him and make Him feel as if He is really important to us?

I reflect on this table setting and I think that if my heart was as welcoming as this, the Lord would always feel like He has a place in my heart to reside. You know what the best part is? I don’t have to wait for a special occasion to invite Him in. Nor do I have to wait for everything to go “downhill” before realizing that I need His help in all the decisions of my life. I can do it now. It only takes a minute to say, “God I welcome you and accept your guidance in my life.”

I feel like Dore’s beautiful setting is the inspiration I need to always keep this in mind. It is such a poignant picture. It is such a true reflection of how our hearts should be--welcoming and intent on making the Lord feel at home there.

I remember years ago when my son was little, I took him to Disneyland. We were gone all day and when I walked through the door that evening, I found out that there would be guests coming to stay for a few days (friends of friends) and that I needed to cook a big, formal dinner for the next night. To say the least, I sprang into action!

When the guests arrived the next night, they were made to feel very welcome. The dinner table was set with finest china and silver. The most beautiful linens were chosen for the occasion. Everything was in its place. And then as we ate, we started to talk and they were the kindest, most wonderful people. I was delighted. What they did for me spiritually was much more than what I offered them in the way of accommodations and a well-prepared meal. They gave me what I needed spiritually.

If we live our lives in such a manner that we make God feel welcome, He can bring us joy that is beyond measure. So, set your spiritual table and make Him feel at home in your heart. Each day is an opportunity to get closer to the One who created us and sustains us from moment to moment.

Prayerful Tuesday

Today I would like to ask you to think of one person whom you know needs a prayer and say one for him or her...simple, yet powerful! Prayer is very important and often we are so busy inspiring others through our writing online that we find little time to do something that is so vital for our well-being...

So, why do I ask you to pray for someone else? Because sometimes it is easier to pray with faith for others than it is to pray for ourselves...

Monday Message

Hi Everyone--
I imagine that last week you must have wondered why I took you on my revamp journey about the art center....Well, as you can see above, it is all done...3 big cabinets did the trick--hooray! (By the way, this big cabinet is in an alcove that is not visible to people walking into the house. It's in an area in my family room that is not accessible to visitors.)

But, there is a bigger reason and "method to my madness." You see, when you looked at the first picture of the mess last week, you could certainly tell that this was a daunting task to clean up...Not something with a simple solution or "quick fix." Sometimes life's problems are like that, but when something gets cleared up, we feel so much better! Problems don't feel great when we are going through them, that's for sure.

However, do you know what made me feel like I could get it all done? Because I had each one of you cheering me on and giving me confidence....I kept thinking of "The Little Engine That Could." So, you see, it is also important to turn to those we need in life when things aren't going the way we planned...someone to say a prayer for us or someone who believes in us and our capabilities...and it is important to pray. God makes all things possible. So, we need to learn to turn to Him even for the tiniest things.

If you are ever encountering a problem, just remember my art mess! And remember that there IS a light at the end of the tunnel!

My Latest Drawing--Fairy Garden Delights

Hi Everyone,

I think that we see God's blessings so miraculously in a garden and I hope this piece helps you remember the treasures of nature that He brings to us each day.

A blank CD became the makings of a magical fairy garden with a bird, fairies, butterflies, and bird’s nest. If you would like to be entered into my drawing to win this, just leave your name under this post. The drawing will be within a week--I just haven’t determined when it will be yet! (Created with all commercial embellishments and papers.) I should tell you that the colors are deeper in person and the entire piece appears very vintage.

Hi Everyone,

My husband just went out to the mailbox and walked in with a BIG surprise for me! One Heart sent me a book called "Streams in the Desert." What she doesn't know is that I had only heard of the book the day before I received the news that she was sending it to me. I had just been thinking, "Wow, I need to get that book." The next thing I knew, she sent it to me! What a wonderful surprise--and it means even more because it came from her. I feel truly blessed. One Heart, I cannot thank you enough.

Hi Everyone--
Today is the day of the Link Party, of course...And I need to tell you my list of favorite movies...

I love Pollyanna, Gidget, and The Little Princess (with Shirley Temple.) And my favorite “grown-up” movie is “Sweet Dreams” about Patsy Cline...I love all movies that are true stories about people in the music business...If you haven’t seen Cadillac Records, it is really worth seeing and it’s a true story too.

When Patti told me she was listing 20 movies, I figured I could add some more, so here goes...Splendor in the Grass, My Cousin Vinny, Something’s Gotta Give, The Devil Wears Prada, As Good As it Gets...and Good Will Hunting...

But, what movie was really amazing and very real? Fireproof with Kirk Cameron...If you haven’t seen it, try to rent it...It’s worth it!

Hi Everyone...
First, I would like to thank you for going on this sojourn with me! When I started this blog, I wanted it to be real. What I mean by that is that it is very easy for someone to quote scriptures and act like they have life totally together--but that's not me...I'm an explorer. I try something. Then, try something else...For me, life is a journey. It is never stagnant. And I am sure that yours is the same way...If you look back over the years, you will probably recognize changes and situations that you never expected...That is the JOY of life!

Tomorrow will be the day of final pics, but I took these today to share with you...I tried my best to give you a "Taste of New Orleans" from this blog. The Joan of Arc statue has been in my family for years, so when I moved to the south, I asked my mom if I could have it...She said "yes" and I was excited because Joan of Arc is the patron saint of New Orleans.

Tomorrow is also the day of our Link Party--All I need you to do is post your favorite movie on your blog and link it up here. So, that's pretty simple, but it helps us know each other better. Now, as for me, I probably will list 4! Yes, 4. So, stayed tuned to hear what they are AND to hear why I began this little mess-to-bless mini-series...When you read it, I'm sure it will all make sense why I posted it on here to begin with.

Going from "Messed" to "Blessed" Part II

Hi Everyone--

Well, it is not quite time for rejoicing yet, but I am close...this is the same shelf from the other day...recognize it?

Here is the kitchen completely done and back in order...hooray!

These are two large cabinets we just purchased for the family room. There are canvas baskets that fit into the cubbies as you can see in the pic.

Here is the inside of one so you can see I’ve finally gotten it all organized.

Last but not least is a handy carrier that we bought at Home Depot...
It’s for tools, but I bought it for scissors, tape, or anything I need handy.

We still have the art-center-in-progress being assembled....It should be completed in a few days and ready for viewing.

Going from "Messed" to "Blessed"

If you remember, on Monday I talked about clearing the clutter in our lives...
I am a person who believes in “a place for everything and everything in its
place.” My upstairs looks like a “bed and breakfast” because it is only used
for company. Here’s an example of my living room to give you an idea:

BUT, this is what my work center in my kitchen looked like when I wrote that post--I kid you not! (Within my first month of continuous crafting and blogging, things were on top of each other until it reached critical mass.)

By 5 a.m. the next morning, after working all through the night, I filled 18 clear shoeboxes with various art supplies that had been painstakingly sorted. My husband and I had purchased cabinets for everything to be labeled and stored in. I was starting to see that there might be a light at the end of the tunnel by the time these were stacked on my kitchen table.

My BIG surprise will be coming in a few days! (That is if God blesses me with fortitude--and blesses my husband with completing his brand-new “honey-do” list--you guessed it--putting the cabinets together!)

(Now, I am sure you can understand why I wanted Samantha from "Bewitched" to show up and wiggle her nose and clean it all up for me!)

The Blessing of Friendship

When I saw this tag of Kim’s, I knew that I wanted to write an entry about friendship. We are definitely so busy these days that friendships--true friendships--can often be overlooked because of life calling at our doorsteps.

So, I wanted to give you a chance to ponder what various friendships are important in your life, which ones go back many years and ones that are the newest. Some may even be “online” friends. All are significant because they add to who we are.

We all know the difference between friends and casual acquaintances. The deeper friendships are those with people who care us even on our worst day.

Today after you read this, I am hoping that you will either call a friend or write to them to see how they are and tell them what they mean in your life. It could brighten their entire day! And this little picture could have spurred you on to make the world a little more positive for just one person--and that’s a big start!

Monday Message

Hi Everyone...
This week, my Monday Message is simple--"Clear it up!" What does that mean? Well, I have been struggling with a cluttered art space and I just got 2 large cabinets tonight that my husband is putting together for me...But, I've got to clear all art materials--paints, lace, buttons, flowers--you name it! It will take ALL week!

It got me to thinking that clearing things up is very cathartic and healthy...For some people, "clearing up" may not be about visible items. It may be about clearing up misunderstandings or even coming to terms and having peace about inner struggles.

So, I am wishing you a week that will make you see more clearly and give you personal understanding and deeper spirituality.

As I started this personal experience, I started hearing the "Rocky" theme in my head. I was wishing that Elizabeth Montgomery could come over, wiggle her nose and make everything end up where it needs to be...Hmmm, is there a bead from Hobby Lobby that I don't own? I think so...but if that's true, I'm not sure which bead it is! lol

My Favorite Song

Hi Everyone--

Well, the link party is in full swing and I wanted to tell you my own favorite song and I hope that you will share yours with everyone too! Just post the name of it on your blog and hook it up to the link party below.

For over 30 years, my favorite song was “Amazing Grace.” It is a beautiful song and one I still dearly love. But, the song “Waltz Across Texas” has to be my favorite of all, maybe not for the song itself but because of the meaning of it in my life.

I guess music evokes emotions that we attach to it and when it comes on the radio somehow we are transported to another time and place...that is the magic of music.

I also love “My Girl,” but that is because it brings back memories of driving with my kids to the beach when they were little and us all singing it together in the car. And I love anything country, oldies, Frank Sinatra, Patsy Cline, Crosby,Stills, and Nash, Rod Stewart (especially Maggie May) or the Beatles (especially “She’s Got a Ticket to Ride” and “8 Days a Week”.)

Music truly is the backdrop to our lives. What a wonderful backdrop it has been to a very blessed life!

Hi Everyone--
I just figured out how to make a collage (with the help and patience
of Heather!) and I wanted to post a picture of my New Orleans home.
Somehow, I guess with this being on the internet, it's easier to picture
people when we know where they're at and get a flavor for the area...

I just realized that Dayle has Simple Pleasures, so I am linking this up because one of my simple pleasures is planting a garden...I would tell you that it is rocking in the rocking chairs on the porch but lately it's been about 5,000 degrees here (just kidding!) so we are outside as little as possible.

In Honor of an Angel

Today I learned of a challenge in which we were to use a dress form to create our project...And I made this in honor of my husband’s mother who passed away 2 years ago. Her name was Fannie and she was a highly spiritual person who took her five children to church every Sunday.

Six years ago when I was taking a graduate course in religion, I needed to research some Biblical stories. I was not sure where to begin to look for specific scenarios within the text that would prove my theoretical point. At that time, she was in her 80s. I called her on the phone from California (she was in Indiana) and she knew exactly which stories I should research, what chapters they were located in, and even began quoting them verbatim. I couldn’t believe it! But, she was a life student of the Bible and knew the material.

She sewed for many years and even owned her own business. She not only created beautiful items, but she also used that time to minister to customers and workers who were so very fond of her. When I saw this dress form, I immediately thought of her and I also thought of how rare it is to know someone with such a commitment to the Lord that they LIVE it on a daily basis. Fannie was one of those people.

This raspberry red “dress form” tag was created with commercial papers, embellishments, and ink. The female image is from Marie’s Freebie’s. It includes quilled flowers that were handmade by me.

When I first saw Dayle’s wonderful blog, I was so inspired. Her writing and photography are so delightful and exude a true sense of wonder. This stepping stone makes one not only feel at home in her garden, but also exemplifies her life of faith. When I saw the words on it, “The Lord bless you and keep you,” I thought of everyone who visits this blog. That is my wish for all of you.

But, indeed, God is already doing that. For whatever we have, it is because of Him--the clothes we wear, the houses we live in, the food we eat. All of it has been provided by a loving Father who meets our needs and is attentive to our prayers. Everything we have, we owe to him.

And how can we show gratitude for all He does? We can show our appreciation by expressing our gratitude verbally in prayer. We don’t have to wait to win the lottery to be grateful. We should be grateful every day--grateful that we can wake up to a new day filled with hope...grateful for family and friends who enrich our lives...grateful for a chance to share our faith with others. The list goes on and on.

As we walk on the road in life, not only is it important to “smell the roses,” but it is also important to take time to ponder higher ideals. That is what Dayle did when she took this photograph. She took the time to pass that beautiful message on to others who could be inspired by it. And now, this professional photographer and writer has been generous enough to share her work with all of us here.

As I walk through this day doing errands, talking to others and working on projects, I will think of this stepping stone and the message that it carries on it. With every step, I will try to be a shining example of what God wants me to be. Thank you, Dayle, for this enchanting reminder.

The Music of God

On Sunday morning, I woke up and checked my email only to find this exquisite digital art picture in my inbox from June at Junibears who created it especially for me...I was in awe as music has always played such a big part in my life and June didn’t even know that about me. I had to share it with you for this Monday message to ask you to listen throughout the week for God’s song in your life. It is personal and it is precious.

It reminds me of this Bible verse: “...he will joy over thee with singing.”

Isn’t that amazing?

Zephaniah 3:17 The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
