Weekly Wisdom--"Thy Will Be Done"

"Celestial"--My Original Mixed Media Work
(This is a reproduction of my original mixed media created from fabric with embroidery.)

Last week, I was inspired by the word’s of Derek Prince’s book “Secrets of a Prayer Warrior” where he explains that in our lives, it is important to say to God, “Thy will be done.”

So, I contemplated what that meant in my own life...and how I could make that possible by having more time for prayer and reading. With that being revealed to me, I have begun a new format here and I am very excited!

Each Monday, I will have “Weekly Wisdom,” and hope that will be a source of inspiration to all of you during the week. Then, on Fridays, I will pose a question for each of you (a simple one) and feature the work of a special artist with an inspirational story to go with the feature.

So, what is my “Weekly Wisdom” for this week? It is to say that I feel it is really valuable to contemplate on that phrase “Thy will be done” in all of our lives. I wonder what insights you will gain and how it will inspire you to be lead by God’s love for you.

One more thing--I came back and read some comments and please look at the comment by Kaybe--it is amazing!!!

  1. Dearest Cindy,
I love your mixed media piece! So beautiful!
Sometimes if I put my problems in to God's hands and say Thy Will be Done, I can feel a great peace over me. He is the One who has helped me cope alone
So I continue to trust in Him.
    Love, hugs and blessings,
    June xx

  4. My mom was Dr. Prince's housekeeper for a short summer a few years before he passed. Although she cooked and cleaned for he & his wife - no day went by that he didn't stop and ask my mom "What can I pray with you about?" Precious man.

Prayer is always about co-operation. Holy Spirit looks through our eyes and shows us a need or want, we ask "Father, please let your will to be done. Let heaven invade my earth in this situation."

The key is never dwelling on what appears to be unanswered prayers. Just keep praying and saying Yes to a good good God - do that. Some situations need time and we 21 century humans beings want everything so fast.

  6. Cindy, one benefit of your blog is that we not only obtain wisdom from what you write, but also from what other bloggers post as comments. I especially am blessed today by what Kaybe has written.

  7. Love your artwork. Regarding : Thy will be done - it can be very hard to put away our own thoughts, feelings and reactions to let way for God's work. Usually, I find myself having to say WWJD (what would Jesus do) ? to any questionable action or reaction. I look forward to following along. Tammy

  8. Hi Cindy,
First, I love your artwork! Truly beautiful!
Next, I have read the Jan Karon Mitford Series several times, usually around the holidays and it always blesses me. The series revolves around Father Tim and he advises friends and members of his congregation to 'pray the prayer that never fails, Thy will be done." That has always stuck with me. Sometimes it's the most difficult prayer for your lips to whisper. Other times it's the simplest, most peaceful prayer in the world and is easily said. But always, always, it's the most powerful and true prayer for your heart and for the situation at hand.
Thank you for the reminder Cindy. :)

  9. Thats such a wonderful thing you blogged about and your artwork is amazing. Thats so true about what they said do not think of unanswered prayers just keep praying to our wonderful God. I have heard people say make sure your prayer is scripture based. I also Remember Romans 12:2 which I memorized in a time of need; 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind..Hugs, Kim

  10. Love your idea, work, and post Cindy.

And I love Ps 139. A great reminder of who God is, and how He knows all about us, and surrounds us with His love. We can trust Him to do what is best for us.
So, "Thy will be done, Lord".

A great reminder for me, your words, and my own.

  11. Well, my dear Diet Dr. Pepper for breakfast drinking friend, now you have me in tears. This is a great idea, Weekly Wisdom, and I love how you set it up--inspiration for the week and a question at the end of it. I LOVE IT!

I like what Kaybe wrote--"Let heaven invade my earth in this situation." Powerful words. I also agree with Kaye on how we not only obtain wisdom from what you write but from what others comment.

Thy will be done...oh my...learned so much about that through my dad's AD season. From faith to trust--comes with maturing as a child of God. Sooner or later we must all grow up. The times I have prayed that, and I don't do so lightly because my Father's methods are not my own and I often don't like His methods, I have seen much freedom. His will is always perfect though. Blessings!

  12. Aren't we glad that our Father doesn't always give us what we pray for? Beautiful art and wonderful inspiring words from all.

    Thy will be done.

  14. Oh Cindy! I love this post! "Thy will be done!"... "Thy will be done"... just to say it and feel it over and over again and let it into our very being! They are four of the most important Words our Dear Lord spoke to us! And He said so many!
    Thanks for this, darling Cindy!
You are such a lovely child of God!
    Blessings!
