You Are So Beautiful to Me

Hi Everyone--

It is my joy to have met each and every one of you--you are so beautiful to me! Your faith inspires me and helps me to grow.
The link party is still in full swing through Sunday night at 9 central time. When it is finished I will pick 2 names at random and each person will win one of these "Beautiful" tags!

I have to share something with you....I have just learned the fine art of quilling and each one has a miniature quilled rose on it! For those of you who don't know what quilling is, it is the art of making roses with a small tool. Thin strips of paper are wrapped around the tool and folded repeatedly to form the rose.

Thank you ALL for linking up your words...It has been a pleasure and treasure seeing them all.

Hugs,
Cindy

Announcing the New Link Party--and My Story for It

I am a writer and I love words. I am fascinated by them, as well as sentence structure. Well, today I asked people to share their favorite word. I remember hearing mine about 20 years ago while watching a television show. I don’t remember what t.v. program it was, but there was a woman the police were looking for to help solve a mystery. Her name was Esperanza. They said it meant “hope” in Spanish. Esperanza became my favorite word then and there!

I actually have 2 more words that I love. They are "serendipity" and "estrella," the latter of which means "star" in Spanish.

But, still ‘esperanza” is my favorite. I love the sound of the word. That is what caught my ear. It is like music. I think it’s the prettiest word I have ever heard. I hope that your “esperanza” grows stronger every day!

If you scroll down, you can add your link and join the inspirational party!

Oh, one more thing that you might find interesting: I remember hearing this several years ago on the radio and that was that families have words that are unique to their own families....Often it is a word that a child says when they are young and the family "adopts" the word (such as in Nancy's post.) It's very interesting, don't you think? On Monday, I will have a funny story to share with you about that.

This is also linked to Spiritual Sundays...They're blog button is on the right if you want to visit this wonderful Link Event.

Guest Artist--Vicki

http://artteachergirl.blogspot.com/

When I saw this beautiful photograph from Vicki, I was amazed by how calm the waters look, almost like a mirror. And that made me wonder, when we look into our own mirrors, what do we see? Do we feel good about ourselves or are we feel critical?

If any of you has ever been self-critical, I would ask you to try to view yourself completely positively for ONE week. Yes--for one week. And I mean, believe it and live in that joy!

I remember when I was when high school, there was a popular statement that was seen on bulletin boards and even t-shirts. It was, “I know I‘m special cuz God don’t make no junk!”

Okay, so I know that the grammar is deplorable, but the message is important. We are important because God made us in His image. Therefore, we are a reflection of Him. When we have joy in our hearts, our reflection becomes even brighter. When we reach out to others in a spirit of happiness, it becomes brighter yet.

So, in the next week, go about thinking very positively about yourself. It is amazing what can happen. Feel free to share your stories--I’d love to hear them.

If you are having difficulty staying focused on your one positive week, just remember this beautiful picture, the clear water and the calmness it exudes.

Okay, everyone...ready, set, go!

God's Goodness

This tag holds a very important message for all of us today--that, in fact, God’s goodness IS everywhere. Yes, we all know that there are tears and loss and illness. But, it is astounding that even in the midst of those experiences, people can see the blessings that flow from a loving heavenly Father....It can be in the heart of a friend who offers a kind word. It can be found in the outreached hand of a person who helps in the midst of financial loss. Yes, God’s goodness abounds...

This week, look for it...See where it shines into your own life--and then, share it with us on here--we’d love to hear it! By looking for it, we can start to become more aware of how he interacts personally in our lives.

And when you find something (even small) about how He is manifest in your life or the lives of others, please put the comment under this post (even if it’s a week later) because I can’t wait to see what wonderful discoveries you are making!

This image from The Graphics Fairy is actually an outreached hand holding raspberries. Commercial papers and embellishments used.

Just another "Surprise Day" in Blogland

Hi Everyone:

These are 2 tags that I just completed as a surprise for Heather and Lovey. If you remember, Heather just changed her blog because she loves roses. And Lovey has been sick, so this is my way to send her roses. Enjoy!

(You can tell which one is for each person as initials are on the tags.)

Please Heather and Lovey, email me your street addresses and last names so I can send these right out to you!

On each one, the verse says, "The garden of life is precious...I owe it all to Him."

HUGS,
Cindy

P.S. There is also a surprise for One Heart below...please take a look.

Another "Surprise Day" Treat!

This tag was created for One Heart as she loves red gingham...Well, when she asked about a similar tag I posted last week, I was out of the gingham paper, so I needed to go across the lake to buy some. Finally, I got it home and made this tag....It says, "Precious blessings flow to me daily--I owe it all to Him."

Linking this up to Tag Tuesday.

Cindy

Surprise Day!

Hi Everyone--
I don’t know if you are aware that I have “Surprise Day” on my Whimsical Musings blog every so often....Well, I have decided to move it here this week. You see, I read one of the stories from the Link Party of this past week that was about a newly engaged couple--Sherry and her husband-to-be, Glenn...how exciting, right?

So, I made a special tag to be placed in their Bible for their wedding....or for their home, whichever they want. If you read her story on the Link party, then you would also know the significance of them meeting a special person at the bingo hall....so, that’s why there is a bingo card on it, as well.

Happy Engagement, Sherry--We share your happiness!

Hugs,
Cindy

Message Monday

Hi Everyone--

I hope you that you are having a wonderful Monday! This week, my “Monday Message” is short, but it is based on the events of the past week. I live in New Orleans and for several days, I thought we were going to have to evacuate. Panic and prayer (in that order) set in!

Now, I would love to tell you that I was so faithful that I did not worry about anything, but that is far from the truth. Not only was it extremely dismaying, but also, I wasn’t sure what to pack or where everything was. My husband and I had to drive 50 miles round trip to buy bubble wrap in case this was not a “test run.”

Luckily, I did not need to use it. Believe me, the evacuation process is overwhelming, as well as frightening....tons of cars on the road in the sweltering heat trying to get out of a major city all at once...animals to take...treasured items to remember...the list goes on and on.

But, I am so grateful that the Lord watched over us and kept us safe...And I wish you a peaceful and safe week, clear of all life’s storms! May it be a week of feeling God’s presence as we heard about in everyone’s stories this weekend.

Also, the Link Party for this week is simple...Please tell us your favorite word...It doesn’t have to be a religious word...just your favorite--and tell us why!!!! We’d love to know!!!

Hugs,
Cindy

Please Join the Link Party and Meet a New Guest Artist!

Guest Artist: Olive

http://oliveout.blogspot.com

When I saw this picture on Olive’s blog, I asked her if she would mind being a Guest Artist on here. Now I will tell you what struck me so profoundly when I viewed this photograph--it was the immense care that she takes in her home. One can immediately recognize that Olive puts such time and effort into it and enjoys the true pleasures and treasures in life.

I wanted you to see it (and some of you may have even seen it before), but this time I hope it is with a new understanding. The Lord loves it when we create something of beauty for those dear to us. That is an example of someone using her gifts.

I received an email from Margaret a few days ago about people using their gifts. She explained how the Lord wants us to use the gifts that He gives us.

I would like for you to think about your gifts and begin polishing them off and using them! Don’t be shy--you have a lot to give this world!

I am thankful that Olive agreed to share her gift with us--the gift of creating beauty. It is wonderful and this world needs more people like Olive in it. And it needs more people like Margaret too who can email a friend and teach them about spiritual lessons. And it needs more people like you who are reading this and interested in your spiritual growth and sharing it with others.

My True Story

Hi Everyone--this is my entry for Friday's inspirational story...Before you leave today, please look on the right to see the fun link party for next week.

When I was 19 years old, I had an experience I have remembered for a long time. It was the Friday night after Valentine’s Day. I went to visit a family who lived in a town quite far from my house in southern California. I had never been there before.

We visited for a few hours and when I left, I didn’t realize it but I took a wrong turn. I went miles and miles in the dark up a deserted mountain road in the Angeles National Forest. But, you see, even though I was lost, I thought I was headed in the right direction.

After driving for a long time, I started to get really scared. It was completely desolate. There were no houses, no buildings, no lights--nothing. That is when I realized that I must have gone the wrong direction. There were no cell phones in those days either. I was driving a little Toyota stick-shift.

After driving for a long time in the dark, I caught the outline of a young fellow. My headlights were on him as I began to round a curve. I stopped the car. He said he needed a ride. He got into my car. I told him I was lost and needed to find my way home. He had blue, blue eyes. He said that his father’s office was a few miles away, so we drove.

Finally, we came to an empty building. There were no houses or other buildings anywhere in sight. We went inside. There was a large map on the wall. I told him where I lived. He showed me the location of where I was, where my house was in relation to it, and how to get there.

I felt so relieved. He walked me outside. I thanked him, walked a few steps to my car, and he disappeared into thin air. I got in the car, found my way home, and got there safely.

Now, I know what you must be thinking...How could I let a stranger in my car? Well, I was lost and desperate. I was so far up on that mountain, I could not even see any city lights. Angeles NationaI Forest covers approximately 650,000 acres.

I consider myself lucky. Very lucky. But, I have always wondered who he could have been. I would have returned later to thank him (in the daylight) but I had no way of knowing where the office was located. All these years later, I feel that he was put on my path to help me find my way home. There is only one other detail I remember about him. His name was Chris.

New Link Party Friday, July 23--Please join us!

Guest Artist: Joan

http://reflectionsofhisgrace.blogspot.com/

In these troubled economic times, the verse contained in Joan’s beautiful picture is balm for a troubled soul--and a hope. For in it, we are told that we do not have to worry, but rather, our needs will be met.

Matthew 6:28: And why take you thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin.

This is a concept that is keenly important to remember. Armored with this statement, we can free ourselves from any worry and move into the comfort zone of faith. This verse is our gateway to true respite from stress.

Contemplate on it and be at peace.

Meditate on it and receive joy.

Thank you, Joan for being part of our transformation from “worry” to “worry-free.” I join you all in this spiritual quest.

"Taste and See"

Hi Everyone!

Today is a special day, indeed--a time to “taste and see that the Lord is good,” as written in Psalm 34:8. He does so much for us every day, even though we might not be paying close attention.

This Bible tag serves as a reminder to be in touch with that scripture and give thanks for the blessings we receive every day. Hmmm, where do you start? How about being thankful for a sunrise, a hot cup of coffee, the ability to read a post on your computer...there are blessings all around...just taste and see!

Welcome also to those of you who are visiting from Word Filled Wednesday and Rednesday...so happy to have you visit too!

I hope you'll come back and meet the wonderful, friendly people on here. Friday-Sunday is a Link Party--

You're invited to link up...Party Details are posted on the right!

Enjoy Nature!

Nature Tag

"The Naturals" Collection

I have gotten a lot of mail today regarding the Gulf Oil Spill....Those reminded me that if you are in a spot where you can walk in nature--in the mountains, at the beach or a lake--enjoy it and thank God for the beauty that He has provided for us!

I also received an email from Barbara at Treasures from the Heart...She has posted some tags on her blog....I hope you will go visit her too.

Also, please don't miss Lovey's story below...You will love her blog! And I am praying for her speedy recovery, as well!

This is being linked up to Tuesday Taggers.

Cycles of Life

Guest Artist: Lovey

http://fabricphotomemories.blogspot.com/

A few weeks ago, I was very blessed to discover a wonderful artist named Lovey. Her work is amazing and visiting her blog is like going on a whimsical excursion.

While I was there, I saw this picture of her with her mother who is now deceased. Indeed, it is such a loss for Lovey and I appreciate that she featured her lovely mom on her blog. Indeed, it is a way to celebrate her life and what she means to her.

It got me to thinking about the commandment to honor our fathers and mothers. But, how do we honor them? I think we honor them not only by being concerned about their well-being, but also by creating lives that they can be proud of. After all, we are the ones whom they stayed up with at night--the ones who made them realize what prayer was all about if we didn’t come home on time as teenagers.

And, for so many of us, the cycle continues...We are the ones staying up at night with our little ones or worrying when our teenagers drive their cars at night to a local movie...or are concerned when we’ve got students away at college or married children who need our advice about which colors look best in their living rooms.

The cycle of life is a beautiful path to be a part of...I am so thankful that in the midst of creating such beautiful art that Lovey introduced us to her lovely mother who was and still is an inspiration to her.

I think this leaves us with a poignant question: How can we be a greater inspiration not only to our children, but to others?

I’m going to work on that this week and am very grateful to Lovey for helping us all to contemplate this important issue in our lives.

Message Monday

Hi Everyone:

Thank you for visiting my very first "Message Monday!" I have something so neat to tell you about. Do you remember the post where I showed the Bible tag with the little bird on it a few days ago? (I have posted it again for a reason.)

Well, on Saturday I happened to look at the picture. As you can see, the tag has the words “sing” on it. Then, I thought to look at the page it was resting on...(I had simply opened my Bible quickly to take the picture.) That’s when I noticed this verse!

Inadvertently, I had rested the tag on this page...and here is the verse:

Psalm 71:22 I will also praise you with the psaltery, even your truth, O my God: to you will I sing with the harp, O you Holy One of Israel.

(Take a look to the bottom left side of the tag.)

To me, this was an indication that God guides our steps even though we don’t know it. How wonderful is that? So, with that in mind, go about your week with a song in your heart, for He is guiding your steps when you ask Him to take your hand.
Hugs,
Cindy

One more thing: This coming Fri-Sun, I am having a Link Party! Please join us all here by posting a short story about how someone helped you in the past when you least expected it! I believe that these will be very inspiring stories of kindness!

As for me, I have 2 stories to share with you--and they are both miracles!

Also, if anyone wants to have a Bible marker, feel free to grab this image that says "Count Your Blessings"...Just “right click,” save it to your desktop and print it! (Best if printed on cardstock.)

Thank you all!!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Link Party...It was wonderfully inspiring!

I held a drawing at the end of it and here are the names I picked at random:

Little Pink Cross: Patty from Seeds of Faith

Bird Bookmark--Linda from Itsy Bits and Pieces

If you are one of the winners from the drawing, please email me your
last names and addresses so that I can mail these out right away.

Thank you all for participating and this week, I will come up with a New Design for Bible Markers for everyone to be able to print out.

I hope I see you tomorrow for a brief post on Message Monday!

Home Is Where the Heart Is

Guest Artist: Nancy

http://thetrinketcollector.blogspot.com

When I saw this wonderful box of Nancy’s, it spoke to my heart. To me, nothing could be more important than home and family. Everything else is icing on the cake.

I started to give it some thought and realized that our earthly homes are reflections of ourselves, including the books on the shelves, the musical instruments, even the tea cups that reveal our own unique tastes.

As much as our physical homes mean to us, it is often spiritual homes that are difficult to build. What are some essential tools for creating them? Prayer and scripture are the basic foundations from which we can gain insight and grow. It seems that the more we learn, the more we need to know. It is a never-ending, sometimes challenging, and always worthwhile process.

I am moved by so many of you who work to strengthen those spiritual ties every day. You inspire me and make me want to learn more and be more. I thank you for your fellowship and hope that you will continue to grow stronger in your faith every day.

Hugs,
Cindy

A Very Special "Thank You"

This blog has only been in existence for 3 weeks...and it would not have been possible to sustain it without the love and caring of some very special women. I want to take this time to thank them for being such a support. They emailed me when I needed to ask questions on how to do things...I want to thank them for being inspiring and believing in this as much as I do....

Those women probably know who they are, but I want you to know their names. They are Margaret, Faye, Maria, Barbara, and Dore....they spent so much time doing so much to make this place possible for all of you. I just wanted you to know that...I love them for who they are and for what they mean to me and how they inspire me daily, sometimes hourly, with their kindness.

This blog isn't about me or for me...It's about all of you and your relationship with the Lord and your joy to express it and inspire others. And each day, the Lord brings more special people into my life...People like June and Angela and Coleen and Linda and Cheryl and Kelly and Debra and Patty and Anni and Suzanne and Peggy and Tami and Hillbilly Wife and Christine and the list goes on and on...One more day is one more person who becomes part of this circle. Some people just came last week for the first time and already feel like family....They inspire all of us with their wisdom and make us feel nurtured in their presence.

I am touched. I am moved. I am grateful.

As you probably know, I am a writer for the newspaper here. But, sometimes when I go out to talk to people, I say to myself when the article is written, "It's what didn't make the paper that are the amazing stories." It's the things people say to me while adding, "But, don't put that part in." Okay, I won't. I promise.

But, it's sort of the same thing here on this blog....Each person comes in with a story and some of you might not realize what a person had to go through or even what sacrifice they made when they didn't feel well but put a post on anyway. That is the miracle here. That people care enough to share enough to make a difference in the lives of others.

I am indeed blessed to know you all. For those of you who just started, I am so happy you are here. To "Spiritual Sundays" and "Fearless Friday" participants, you have been so wonderful to share all of your joy and wisdom with everyone and we are so moved by you coming to be part of something that does so much for so many. I am praying for all of you. I ask that the Lord blesses your life and brings you peace, joy, and happiness.

This is just "a little corner of the world," but you have all made it a wonderful place to come home to when there is a need to feel uplifted.
Hugs,
Cindy

Announcing Link Party for Next Week Too!

Hi Everyone...

I am so overwhelmed with JOY reading all of your posts...thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing...This has been an online Bible study if I have ever seen one....amazing.

Next week should be so fun for all of us....All I'm asking is if you would share a story about something wonderful that someone did for you that took you by surprise during a difficult time in your life. I have found that when I least expect it, earthly "angels" come from out of nowhere.

I can't wait to hear your story!

My Own Bible Verse for Link Party

Hi Everyone:

I have a personal story that I have waited to tell you. So, here it is:

On the night that I created this blog, I asked the Lord if this blog was something that He wanted me to do. I opened my Bible and put my finger on a verse randomly. I often do that when asking for guidance. Here is the verse:

Luke 8:8
And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

I was so moved because I felt that this blog would “spring up and bare fruit,” meaning that it would enlighten others and reach those who need it...that those who need prayers and a sense of community would find a place where they could know that someone was praying for them and that others were wishing them well.

You can imagine that I wondered where people would even know that this blog existed. But, I thought that should not be my concern because the verse said, “And bare fruit an hundredfold.”

So, I stepped out in faith. It has been a wonderful walk.

I also linked this up for Thankful Thursday.

And for Spiritual Sunday!

Hugs,
Cindy

Friday Prayers

Hi Everyone,

There is a blog called Free Spirit Haven that has an event called "Fearless Friday" and everyone on there prays for each other on Fridays. I pray every day for the people on my blog. If anyone has a special prayer need, you can always feel free to tell me. But, this other blog is also a place you might want to see....Just thought I would pass that along. It is wonderful to know what positive things people are doing for each other.

Cindy

Praying Hands

Guest Artist: Debi

http://www.cameokidsboutique.blogspot.com

If you look very closely, you will notice that this fabric contains the picture of praying hands. Debi is a wonderful designer who incorporates vintage fabric into her creations.

To me, the praying hands are a reminder that we need to look upward to find our answers...We may not know where we are going in life, nor how we are going to get there...but God does.

How many times have you ever said to someone, “Oh, I’ll pray for you” when they’ve had a problem? Have you actually done it every time? Sometimes it is easy to let it slip our minds...

If you are pressed for time, a wonderful prayer is, “Dear Lord, please lift (name of person) up and bring your peace to them as they go through this difficult time....I pray that they will feel your love and your assuring hand in all matters of their life...I put my faith in you to guide their lives...”

It can be as simple as that.

Whenever you see the praying hands, let it serve as a reminder that God is always listening....all you need to do is turn to Him.

Thank you, Debi, for this beautiful spiritual reminder.

A Precious Window Box

Guest Artist: Linda

http://itsy-bits-and-pieces.blogspot.com/

When I first saw this picture of Linda’s on her blog, I hoped that it would be part of our sharing here one day. And she was so kind to let us enjoy it!

The care that she put into planting this window box is in itself a gift to our Creator--it lets Him know that she is thankful for something as wonderful as flowers surrounding her home. It means that she is willing to put the time into something that brings joy to others...and isn’t that what life is all about?

After Hurricane Katrina, my husband and I were renovating a home. We worked so hard for 9 months. Half-way through the renovation, I said, “I don’t want to wait anymore. I need to plant flowers. It will make the children in the neighborhood feel happy that things are getting back to normal.” And so, we planted them.

Sometimes it is the efforts we make with no thought of return that are the most rewarding. You see, Linda planted her window box and had no idea when she did it that so many individuals would be able to enjoy it.

I wonder how many things you will do today with no thought of return that will bring joy to others. When you wipe a tear, listen to a friend, or help a loved one, those are all the small bits of happiness that make life worth living.

I think that is also true in the world of blogging. Sometimes I’ve typed so much my hands ache, and yet, I think to myself, “Oh, I know that person would feel so happy to read a positive comment to brighten her day.” Sometimes one cheerful sentiment on a blog or in person can be just what an individual needs to feel good. In that manner, we can spread the joy and peace that the Lord has placed in our hearts.

In the future, if you ever wonder if something is worth doing, just remember this window box and continue to spread happiness to others.

Hugs,

Please don't miss this amazing video on Nannykim's blog!

And please be sure to read the wonderful story that Faye shared with us today!

Just Need to Share This

Hi Everyone...
Yesterday I was so busy on here trying to write to everyone and meet new people! Then, I was off to commenting on art blogs (for my art blog) and I went to leave a comment for a really lovely artist named Kristin. Well, you know how when you leave a message, you are given a word to decode? They are always "Nonsense" words that don't mean anything.

BUT, when I got the word to decode, guess what it was! It said, "BLESS!" I about fainted!

I had to share that with you.
Hugs,
Cindy

Reaching Out to Others

Guest Artist: Faye

http://hastingshall2.blogspot.com

and

http://hastingshall2.wordpress.com

Faye is a wonderful mixed media artist who recently created this beautiful blue tag. It is one of many projects that she has brought to a nursing home where she volunteers teaching art to the patients. She is using her talent to serve the Lord--what a wonderful gift to all who learn from her.

You see, in addition to her work schedule, Faye has volunteered at nursing homes off and on for about 40 years. For 6 years, she worked as the director of Homebound Ministries for her church. In that capacity, she visited the sick and homebound. It provided her with an opportunity to share her faith. She even wrote a devotional book, “Rough Around the Edges,” about her experiences.

Faye is retired now and still making a difference. I asked her if I could share part of a letter she had written to me because I knew it would inspire all of you. Here it is:

When I retired, I still taught Bible studies and Sunday school, but I had time on my hands. I decided to offer my artistic ability to a nearby nursing home. I have volunteered there for almost 2 1/2 years. I love those dear old souls and enjoy crafting and talking with them, including sharing faith stories and praying with them. I am 75 years old and hope that I am allowed to keep my health and strength so I can continue the nursing home trips.

The Bible study that I lead is small and all of us are elderly. We meet in the daytime since all are retired and because none of us likes to drive at night. My church is a 45 mile round trip from my home. We moved to the country in 1992 and stayed with the same church we had been attending. With family 900 miles away, our church is our family. God has blessed my husband and me with 53 years of marriage, 2 children and a lovely granddaughter, a senior at the College of William and Mary. It is our joy to serve the Lord wherever He leads us.

Wonderful Blessings

Hi Everyone--
Thank you so much for linking up your inspirational spaces for all of us to see...it has been truly wonderful! What amazing blogs you all have...I am in awe.

Next week, I would like to ask you to link up a Bible verse that has a special meaning to you. This will give us each a chance to find a scripture that will inspire people and brighten their days. It's pretty simple...no need to post pictures but if you would like to, they are more than welcome! (I know we have some amazing photographers on here.)

Then, just let us know where your blog is...pretty simple...AND, I will start it on Friday and end it on Sunday night just like this week...that gives you plenty of time, especially if you are busy with family and friends. I look forward to seeing each one.

I just held the drawing and the tag that I made was won by Barbara Jean Simmons...so congratulations, Barbara! (Please email me your address so I can send it to you.)

I am overwhelmed by all of your inspirational places and stories of faith. This could never have been done without Margaret's idea to do this Link event! And it also would never have been possible without all the dedication to the Lord from all of you who cared so much to take your time to inspire others.

Sending blessings to you all,
Cindy

What's in a Name?

Guest Artist: Christine

http://christineandco.blogspot.com

When I saw this delightful piece by Christine, it reminded me of how important our names are. When someone mentions your name, what kind of feeling do they get? When they hear your name, do they think of you as a cheerful person? Do they think of you as someone who is helpful?

Think of different people in the Bible and what their names mean to us. When we think of Noah, we think of the Great Flood. When we hear the name of Job, we think of someone who went through trials and tribulations

So names really do carry an essence with them. Our names are the way in which we are recognized. They are personal.

I think of how miraculous that concept is in regard to prayer. When I pray for each one of you, God knows exactly who I am talking about. He knows your name. He knows your needs. Out of all the people with your name in the world, when mentioned in prayer, He knows exactly who I am talking about.

But, it goes even further than that. In Psalm 139, the psalmist tells us that God knows when we sit down and when we stand up. It says He knows every word that we say.

In short, God knows everything about us. He knows if we are having a good day or a bad one. He knows what our needs are. But, like the psalmist, it is important to talk to Him and ask for help to work through things in a manner that only He can.

I marvel at how God answers prayers. He is never “a day late and a dollar short.” We may not know His entire plan, but when we ask to be part of it, that is when things start to flow.

I will consistently hold your names up in prayer and ask for wondrous miracles to be present in your lives.

Hugs,
Cindy

Guest Artist: Sherrie

Sherrie was so wonderful to share her new creation with us here on “I Owe it All to Him.”
When I first saw it, I wondered, “How many of us have ever created our own limitations?”

There is an Bible verse that tells us just how important our wishes are. The Lord does, indeed, hear our prayers. In St. John 14:14 we are told, “If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.”

In short, God does want to give you your desires. But, this verse clearly lets us know that He wants to be part of the process so that we are guided by Him as to how it will come about in our lives. So, if you are ever doubting that He wants your happiness and success, look back at that verse so that you will be reminded that He does.

Dare to dream and dare to fly and just know that when you go to the Lord for guidance, He will lead you where you need to be. Believe it. Know it. Live it.

Thank you Sherrie for sharing your beautiful talent and allowing us to contemplate some very important concepts.

Sherrie's blog is very beautiful..if you would like to visit it, just click her name where it says "guest artist."

Cindy

A Woman on a Mission

Guest Artist: Coleen

http://vintageterrace2.blogspot.com/

Today I would like to introduce Coleen...and her story is so inspiring that I’d like to share it with you. Coleen is currently residing in the Ukraine with her husband Jeff. In 1994, they were sent there from the U.S. to serve as missionaries by the Baptist Missionary Association (BMA) and remain there today.

Jeff helps missionaries and pastors throughout the region set up churches. He was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree for his valuable work there. Coleen has been showing women and children there how to make scrap books. She calls it “faith booking.” Here are some beautiful examples of the work they have done under her tutelage. So inspiring!

Coleen, thank you for sharing this and making us smile today!
Hugs,
Cindy

Smiling in the Midst of Tears

Guest Artist/Writer: Peggy Gatto

http://wwwpeggysamusement.blogspot.com/

The following is a wonderful story that Peggy sent to me. I have attached a picture of Peggy and her husband with the special horse. And also a picture of Peggy’s mother when she was a child. (Please take note that her legs are crossed and so are the horse’s.) I wanted to share this beautiful story with you:

“In 2004, my little mama died at 90. She loved horses and as a little girl had several of her own. One pony , Silver, was trained to do tricks! When she died and I was making funeral arrangements, I asked the priest if we could have a horse outside the church (she always said she would get on a horse one more time!) He asked the congregation to get in touch with me if they could bring a horse the day of the funeral.

“I got a call from a lady who said she had a friend who had a pony and would be willing to bring her to the services. I said, "That's perfect. My mom used to have a trick pony she adored!” The lady went on to say that the pony was quite old and her name was Silver! My heart stopped.....and I said to her, “The name of my mom's pony was.....Silver"! True story!!! So, that is why my husband and I and Silver are all smiling outside the church the day of my mother's funeral.”

Counting Our Blessings

Guest Artist: Angela
http://angelinastrinkets.blogspot.com

In Job 36:11, we read: If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. When I saw this handmade basket created by Angela, it made me think of prosperity...And so many of us are prosperous in ways we may have never even thought of.

Are we not prosperous when we are able to go to the refrigerator and pull out a soft drink? There are some countries where people don’t even have safe drinking water.

Are we not prosperous when we have fuel in the car to go somewhere of our choice? Isn’t it a blessing to be able to spend a carefree evening ordering a pizza and watching a DVD? All of these are signs of prosperity.

When I was small, I learned a song called “Count Your Many Blessings.” I used to sing it when I walked to school. I did this for years. It was my favorite song. Each time I finished singing it, I would try to count my blessings. One thing on my “Blessings” list was that I was grateful that I had a dollar for the weekend to go to the movies. Can you imagine that was the price of a ticket then?

At different ages and different stages we may count different blessings, but being mindful of them is important. When life is its toughest, that is sometimes when it is hardest to keep counting them. We might even abandon the idea completely! But, that is precisely when we need to be in touch with all that our Heavenly Father has done for us. It helps sustain us.

I think of this beautiful basket of Angela’s. In my mind’s eye, I can see filling it up with blessings and being grateful for all I’ve been given.

That doesn’t mean that people will not go through problems--real problems. But, it is at those times when prayer can give us solace or just knowing that someone is praying for us can make a difference in how we feel. I am keeping you all in my prayers as you fill your spiritual “baskets of blessings” daily.

4th of July Message

Guest Artist: Jennifer

http://themagicbrushinc.blogspot.com

As so many people are enjoying backyard barbecues, family time, and fireworks today, I thought this was a wonderful time to share this Bible verse that Jennifer put into a piece of chalkboard art for her home. (If you remember, it is Jennifer who made the “Be Still and Know that I am God” chalkboard piece that Cheryl was so kind to share with us.)

“Taste and see that the Lord is good” from Psalm 34:8 is a favorite verse of mine. With it certainly comes the reminder of how life must seem when someone does not have the joy in their hearts that only comes from Him. I love the idea that Jennifer has this in her kitchen so that she is reminded of it daily.

This piece serves as an inspiration to all of us to recognize that our good comes from above. Every blessing flows from on high. Indeed, the Lord is wonderful!

Thank you Jennifer for lending your God-given talents to this blog. Thank you for sharing such an important message with us--one that we can all remember as we go about a day that is synonymous with hamburgers, hot dogs, and watermelon. In
the midst of family time, it is a beautiful verse to keep in our minds and hearts!

An Important Lesson...

Guest Artist: Cheryl
(Some of you may know her as KC Mom)

http://kckanenwishers.blogspot.com

This is such a wonderful gift that Cheryl has been kind enough to share with all of us. It was actually a present from Cheryl’s good friend Jennifer who created it and gave it to her at a time when she needed it most. What a wonderful friend! And how awesome of Cheryl to share this special treasure with us. Instead of boasting about her own natural talents, she focused on a friend. How special is that?

Additionally the message of it speaks to all of us loud and clear. It is like our own little message board that we can take notice of and apply to our lives. If you’re like me, you say, “Oh, I can do that! I’ll slow down as soon as I get everything done!” Does that sound familiar? How many of us have said that at one time or another? Families and work are fulfilling, but they can also detract from quiet time for ourselves. Such is the map of a busy life because the road is paved with many activities.

So, what about a time to “Be Still and Know that I am God?” Does it go by the wayside?
Does it take a backseat to all of the other pressing matters in your life? I decided that this might be a perfect time to find your “stillness” and I will write something that is an active prayer....You can add to it any way that you want. But, I will get you started.

Thank you, Cheryl for reminding us that we all need this.

Dear God,
We thank you for this time to concentrate on you. We thank you for your many blessings upon ourselves and our families. We are grateful for your guidance and know that you never leave our side.

We come before you with an attitude of gratefulness for all that you have done for us. We thank you for these minutes that can bring peace to our hearts and comfort everlasting.

We are so appreciative of the wondrous ways you have manifested in our lives and for making the crooked places straight. We ask that we can be a beacon to others and share the true joy and peace we feel from within.

(And now you can pray to Him in quiet and add to this prayer in your own words.)

Special "Sanctuary" Event!

Dore’s beautiful “Sanctuary” piece inspired all of us. Margaret was so moved by it that she came up with the idea of us all sharing our personal places of prayer! Yes, that’s how special and generous of spirit the people are who gather here! (Isn’t that such a blessing?)

On Friday, July 9, there will be an opportunity for all of you to share your private prayer space--the place where you commune with the Lord. It can be inside or outdoors. This is my bedroom chair that I told you about that is my prayer space.

If you want to participate, put your photo on your blog and then, link it up here...
We’ll all come visit to see it...Can’t wait to see your wonderful spaces. Wishing you a blessing-filled day.

Now, I invite you to see Margaret's beautiful photographic offering. Please keep going to see it and read the inspirational story for today!

Hugs,
Cindy

Faithfulness

Guest Artist: Margaret

http://ewenique.wordpress.com/

Isn’t this photography amazing? My friend and fellow blogger Margaret is not only a photographer, but also an artist. When I saw her photo, I couldn’t wait to write some words to go with it--a story to inspire you because I was so moved by it.

The Bible verse contained in this piece is so profound. It is a tremendous guide to live by. It exemplifies how God is always there to be of comfort. But, it is also wonderful to have other people who can share our walk with us. And that is what I have wanted to create here--a space for you to be able to find a “spiritual community” within a quiet place that is intended just for you. Along the way, new friends will come, grab a cup of coffee, sit down, and stay awhile. And we can all inspire each other.

We all have a story to tell. Feel free to share yours here. We are multi-faceted human beings with joy, hope, love--the whole gamut of emotions. And since each of our experiences are different we can learn from each other. We can talk about deep concepts and share our insights. Let’s face it--we didn’t get this far along the road of life without gathering some wisdom along the way.

I have a little story to tell you...It’s about my own experience. It is a story that I hope will make you smile. For many years, I owned a children’s music label. I was a voting member of NARAS (The Grammy Awards.) I trained teachers to use music in the classroom to promote self-esteem. But, in the midst of all that, what was my personal dream? My personal dream was to sing “Amazing Grace” with Willie Nelson in my livingroom. Impossible, you think?

I had the wish for over 10 years. And, here’s the funny part: I always told people that it was what I wanted to do as if it was going to happen.

One afternoon, while driving in the car, I heard a radio station in Los Angeles announce that Willie Nelson was going to be a guest on an up-coming show on Friday night. Here was my chance! Or so I thought...

It was a call-in program. Many people called in and asked him questions. A few people called and asked if they could sing a song they had written and have him join in. Well, because of issues regarding copyrights, it wasn’t possible. I knew it was my chance because “Amazing Grace” was public domain! I called and got through. There was Willie on the other end of the line. I asked if he’d sing it with me and he agreed. He said, “Kick it off, Darlin’.” We sang it a capella (no music) and I was so excited!

I write this story to tell you that no matter how impossible something seems to be, faith is a really valuable component of our spiritual lives. We never know what can happen in life. So, that’s my little story. And I know you must have one too. We all need inspiration so feel free to share it. Not only is God our wonderful comfort, but also He gives us the gift of being a solace to each other.

Along with this post comes a special “thank you” to Margaret, not only for her beautifully inspirational work, but also for being there consistently when I email her about suggestions about this spiritual space. Even if she is busy, she always makes time for others and is amazingly helpful and brimming with original ideas! She has contributed so greatly to us realizing the dream of a prayer community here online. I cannot thank her enough as her spiritual walk inspires me daily.

Hugs,
Cindy

A Special Note

When you leave a comment on here, please be sure to come back because I try to answer each one...That way, we can truly share...

A Little Bible Tip

If you are ever near a Christian bookstore or looking online, Bible tabs are really great for being able to find the verses that you have marked in your Bible. It lets you flip to the verses that are near and dear to you in a heartbeat. I don't know what I'd do without mine.
