New Link Party, Surprise, and Give-Away
Tag from Dore!
Hi Everyone,
Today there was a surprise in my mailbox--this beautiful tag from Dore! And of all things, it said, “Nesting Instincts,” which is probably the strongest instinct I’ve had all my life. It is so beautiful--I will cherish this always. “Thank you so much, Dore!”
My New Give-Away Tag
Last night, I had just completed a tag that I wanted to have for this drawing for the weekend...It was created with burlap, twine, Prima flower, fibers, and a Tim Holtz tile and key. While these 2 tags look different, notice the key and musical notes on each one...how surprising! (If you would like to have your name entered into this drawing, just let me know in a comment under this post.)
For this link party, I had asked people to tell us what they collect. While I collect many things, I wanted to show you this 6-foot cherry wood credenza that is filled with personalized music boxes given to me by my daughter, Jenny. She is 28 and has been buying them for me for every Christmas and birthday since she was 14. Most are from Disney and the San Francisco Music Box Company and each one has a certificate. There are also carousel horses and 3 separate carousels that go around as they play music. At night, the cabinet lights up and looks so magical. I refer to this cabinet as “My cabinet filled with love.” (It never started as a collection--it just became one!) Oh, and one more thing--the cabinet was a housewarming gift from my mom!
What do you love? Show us what is dear to your heart. It will help us know you better and share your joy of collecting. Just write about it on your blog or put a picture of it on your blog, scroll down to the next post which is the Link Party and
link it up!
Hugs,
Cindy

Beautiful! I use to buy music boxes of all sorts for my mom. She loved getting them from me as much as I loved giving them to her...
ReplyDeleteMy goodness what a beautiful surprise you received. You have a wonderful collection. Does anyone get music boxes for you, other than your daughter? Is it a thing that you two kind of have as a bond?
ReplyDeleteIt's an easy and straight-forward question -- what do you love? Why am I having such a difficult time answering? Do you know what, Cindy? I've never had a collection in my life. I like doing things, but I've never really found anything specific that I felt compelled to "gather".
I do have the Silverstein books, "Where the Sidewalk ends, The Giving Tree, Looking for My Missing Piece," and I've also purchased some fairy tale books over the years, there's also a very unique Chinese Bible, which is beautifully printed in Chinese and you need to read it backwards -- OK, so I would have to say that I enjoy either old or unusual books. Now that you've asked the question, it's nice to know that I am drawn to a collection. I just learned something about myself.
By the way, can you believe how scary those old fairy tales were? Children being thrown into the oven and all that? How are any of us normal? Well -- I guess normal is all perspective. haha.
Great post and great question!
What a beautiful cabinet Cindy and what a great collection you have there. I bought my Mum a couple of pretty music boxes, the last one was an angel that revolved and played Amazing Grace.
ReplyDeleteYou have a home full of beautiful things.
Hugs

Hello Cindy, I would never think to collect music box's but they sound so beautiful and with the light on in the cabinet, yes, magical.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I can enter your next post? I only put a new one today. Many blessings. CML xx

What a very special daughter you have to continue to add to your music box collection even as an adult.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love music boxes!! They have a "magical" feeling to them. They are beyond gorgeous. We used to have a San Francisco Music Box store in our mall, and I always enjoyed browsing in there, but, sadly, it has gone out of business.
ReplyDeleteI think it's lovely that your daughter has been acquiring music boxes for you for so many years. What a lovely tradition.
Oh, and speaking of lovely, that's another beautiful tag. You do the most amazing work. Such a talented gal you are.
Wishing you a wonderful day.
Love,
Patti
I forgot to say that I think your cabinet is beautiful. Such a lovely housewarming gift.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Patti
Ohhh, I love all your sweet family memories! We used to live near San Francisco so you've also brightened my day with my own family memories :) And what a wonderful sight that sounds to be - like Christmas sparkles all year round!
ReplyDeleteI collect favorite books, special Christmas tree ornaments, photos (thanks to my easy to use digital camera :) ), and lots and lots of sweet family memories. Definitely a joy-full topic. :)
Thank you dear,
ReplyDeleteCindy I loved gifting the tag to you, for you are that special tag a top that beautiful little package to pretty to unwrap.
You enlighten all of who visit you with endearing post. I am honored to have you as a bloggy friend :)

I love both the tags! How simple and wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy, I used to collect thimbles from wherever I went and my childhood. It's a long boring story but I don't collect anything except strays and crafts things. I also love garden things. Your little Stella is so sweet. I knew a kitty similar to her named Magic.
ReplyDeleteYour tag is awesome. I love all the textures and things you have used. Hugs Chris
Thanks for posting this mom. It has been awesome seeing your collection build up over the years.
ReplyDeleteLove you!
