The Blessing of Friendship
When I saw this tag of Kim’s, I knew that I wanted to write an entry about friendship. We are definitely so busy these days that friendships--true friendships--can often be overlooked because of life calling at our doorsteps.
So, I wanted to give you a chance to ponder what various friendships are important in your life, which ones go back many years and ones that are the newest. Some may even be “online” friends. All are significant because they add to who we are.
We all know the difference between friends and casual acquaintances. The deeper friendships are those with people who care us even on our worst day.
Today after you read this, I am hoping that you will either call a friend or write to them to see how they are and tell them what they mean in your life. It could brighten their entire day! And this little picture could have spurred you on to make the world a little more positive for just one person--and that’s a big start!

Cindy,
ReplyDeleteI really needed to see this post of yours today! I really have been SOOOO busy with so much here lately that I think I have neglected my friends. In fact I know I have :(
I was working on some things this evening and thinking about a friend from grade school and high school, I made her baby shower invitations recently and I cannot now go to the shower due to having an arts/crafts show to attend. I feel bad for this, but thought it very ironic of your post that I was thinking almost the same thing when I read it.
It's 4:30 AM here now so I most likely won't be calling friends now as you suggested, hehe, but email I will!
You take care {did you see my recent post on my blog with the pictures of Kristin with your tag you gave her?}
Your friend,
Smiles!
Christy
A lovely post dear Cindy. I am always so grateful to have dear friends, especially my new online friends. Just a word or two brings such joy to know you are thought about.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs to you dear friend.

Cindy,
ReplyDeleteThat is so very true. I am delighted to find so many new online friends that care. Thanks for mentioning me and I hope that everyone who sees this will come by and say hello. I love meeting new friends. I hope that you have a great day.
Hugs,
Kim
I have been friends with my best friend in all the world since 1993. Our friendship has seen both of us move away, resulting in the fact that we haven't even seen one another since 2003. But we are closer than ever...and we pray together on the phone once a week...Tuesdays.
ReplyDeleteI've had ALOT of seasonal friendships, and that used to really grieve me, as I wanted a friend to always be a friend. I finally realized that during certain seasons of our lives, we will be friends with someone, but when that season is over, the friendship is over as well. Oh, you don't dislike one another, but the thing that bound you together (job, school, kids' ages) is no longer there.
So, for most of us, one or two TRUE friends are all we ever have. And that is what my dear friend Julia is to me...a true and forever friend.
Love,
Patti

Friendship is so important. What a gift from God to go through life's journey! I'm grateful.
ReplyDeleteGreat reminder! :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCindy~
ReplyDeleteThis has been one of the things that I have been grateful for and amazed by this week. Friendships that I have made since I have been blogging. I read all of the comments posted (which honestly I rarely do) and everyone had such a great message. But it's not just blogging... I have chosen to surround myself with positive people that share in the same passions that I do and that love the lord! I cant say enough how thankful I am for being led to this site and you Cindy. You have definately become a FRIEND!
Take Care~ Sherry
Hi Cindy, life now has become so fragmented people often do not know the people they live next door to. It has bee difficult for me moving away from my hometown and leaving my friends. Many folks now do not want to actually talk on the telephone and I find texting very impersonal. So many of my past friends identities are solely made up of what they do at work. Now that I am retired we have nothing in common. Cultivating an inner life is so important. Well I have rambled on and on. Hugs friend...olive♥
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy! It was so nice to see your comment on my blog today! I am fine, also trying to clear things out before another busy school year starts up.. Glad to hear from you!
ReplyDeleteChristine
Oh Cindy...I could write a weeks of blogs at least on this topic!!! This really hits a soft spot in my heart...but I"m so busy working now :) :)...that I don't have time to tell you!!! Just remind me sometime via email and I'll tell you part of my story :) :) It's a good one and God blesses!!! Anyway...gotta run...I thought my day went fast when I was unemployed...Oh now...much faster now that I"m working!!! I'm trying to type faster to make up for it :) :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)
ReplyDeleteAfter the death if my best friend and mom 9 months after each other, I was devasted and thought I would never love again...never love another friend or want one in my life. Then I met KC Willis online and my heart began to open and through her art and kind words to me I saw a friendship growing. I started blogging and creating art and now my heart sings daily. I've made some beautiful friendships through blogging...and even though we are spread out all over the world I feel close to many of them. I know to everyone we have seasons...I'm prayerful that those who have captured my heart and I theirs will last more than than that season. All the friendships that have come and gone...I say thanks for being there if only for a short time to move me past where I was to where I am...seasonal friends can be a good thing too.
ReplyDeleteCindy, you are one of those people I call a friend....seasonal? I sure hope not...you've captured my heart! smiles and no pressure...heehee.
